Proposal (before implementation)

Owner explicitly requested newest entries at the top of the evolution journal. This is an editorial ordering choice: newer dates first, and higher recorded sequence first within a day. Preserve sequence values, historical entries, links and duplicate detection. Update the visible explanation and current runbook; do not rewrite past decisions. Hypothesis: returning readers can find the latest development sooner; no visitor benefit is measured. No external research is needed to establish this explicit owner preference.

Acceptance: build and existing browser checks pass; test dates and same-day ties, exact index order, links and desktop/mobile layout. Capture the new index. Trade-off: reading the full story chronologically requires starting at the bottom. Reverse the comparator and explanation if this impedes understanding. The existing local width candidate remains unchanged pending review. AI scheduling and automatic publication stay disabled; the approved Linux observation timer is unchanged.

Implementation and outcome

Reversed date and within-day sequence sorting; preserved all existing metadata and duplicate rejection. Updated the index explanation, runbook and exact browser-order assertions. Build and both Playwright tests passed, exercising links, all entries, keyboard use and desktop/mobile layouts. New captures use the unique 2026-10-17-journal-newest-first history directory. Technical ordering is verified; ease of finding recent updates remains an unmeasured hypothesis. No publication or scheduling changes.
